Three days of caves, coast and local landscapes

Explore the variety of the Quang Binh region on a journey combining well-known caves with coastal scenery and outdoor activities.

Begin with a day travelling north from Dong Hoi to the Vung Chua area, Ngang Pass and Da Nhay Beach. The programme then turns towards the limestone landscapes of Phong Nha–Ke Bang, with visits to Paradise Cave and Nuoc Mooc Spring.

On the final day, discover Quang Phu Sand Dunes before taking a sightseeing boat along the Son River to Phong Nha Cave.

A comfortable base in Dong Hoi

Spend two nights at a three-star hotel in Dong Hoi, returning to your accommodation after the first two days.

Breakfast and lunch arrangements are included as specified in the itinerary, while evenings are free for you to choose your own dinner and explore independently.

The programme combines sightseeing with walking, steps and optional water-based participation. Share any mobility concerns, swimming limitations or children’s details before booking.

Both cave visits use their standard sightseeing routes. This programme does not include the Paradise Cave 7km adventure, Phong Nha Cave 4,500m kayaking expedition or Dark Cave mud bath.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dong Hoi – Vung Chua – Ngang Pass – Da Nhay Beach

Meal included: Lunch.
08:00 — Pickup in Dong Hoi
Meet your guide at the agreed pickup point in Dong Hoi and begin the journey north.
Your guide will introduce the programme and explain the arrangements for the day’s visits. Please have breakfast before pickup.
Morning — Vung Chua and General Vo Nguyen Giap’s resting place
Travel to the Vung Chua area and visit General Vo Nguyen Giap’s resting place when access is permitted.
Take time for a respectful visit and enjoy the surrounding coastal scenery. Follow the site’s current entry rules and wear appropriate clothing.
This stop does not include a boat trip to Yen Island.
Continue towards Ngang Pass and Hoanh Son Gate
Continue towards Ngang Pass and learn about the historical significance of the route.
A visit to Hoanh Son Gate involves walking uphill and steps. Access will depend on conditions and the group’s suitability.
Around 11:00 — Da Nhay Beach
Stop at Da Nhay Beach to enjoy the coastal landscape and distinctive rock formations.
Walk along suitable areas of the beach and take photographs. Rocks may be slippery, so follow your guide’s advice and keep away from exposed areas when waves are strong.
Around 12:00 — Lunch and hotel check-in
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then return towards Dong Hoi.
Check in at your hotel when rooms are available and spend the remainder of the afternoon resting or exploring independently.
Evening — Free time in Dong Hoi
Choose your own dinner at a local restaurant.
Overnight at a three-star hotel in Dong Hoi.

Day 2: Paradise Cave – Nuoc Mooc Spring – Dong Hoi

Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
08:00 — Depart for the Phong Nha–Ke Bang area
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide and travel towards Paradise Cave.
Enjoy the changing scenery as the route leads into the limestone landscape.
Morning — Explore Paradise Cave
Take the included electric buggy to the approach area, then continue on foot along the uphill path and steps to the entrance.
Inside, explore approximately the first kilometre of the developed sightseeing walkway. Observe the limestone formations and spacious chambers, taking time for photographs without touching the formations.
Return to the meeting point after your visit.
Around 12:00 — Lunch
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and rest before the afternoon activities.
Please inform us of allergies or dietary requirements before departure.
Around 14:00 — Nuoc Mooc Spring
Continue to Nuoc Mooc Spring and enjoy its natural surroundings.
Take part in swimming and kayaking within the designated activity areas when conditions and site rules allow. Wear a life jacket as instructed and follow staff directions.
Guests who prefer not to enter the water can enjoy the surroundings within the accessible visitor areas.
Around 17:00 — Return to the hotel
Return to your hotel in Dong Hoi.
The evening is free, with dinner at your own expense.

Day 3: Quang Phu Sand Dunes – Phong Nha Cave – Dong Hoi

Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
Early morning — Quang Phu Sand Dunes
Visit Quang Phu Sand Dunes in the early morning, before the stronger daytime heat.
Walk across the dunes, enjoy the views and try the sandboarding activity arranged by the team where suitable.
The guide will confirm the departure time according to conditions.
Morning — Breakfast and time at the hotel
Return to the hotel to shower, have breakfast and prepare your luggage.
Enjoy some time to rest before checkout.
Around 11:00 — Checkout and depart for Phong Nha
Check out of the hotel and travel towards Phong Nha.
The team will confirm luggage storage in the vehicle for the afternoon visit.
Around 12:00 — Lunch
Have lunch at a local restaurant before the cave excursion.
Afternoon — Son River boat trip and Phong Nha Cave
Board a sightseeing boat and travel along the Son River.
Enjoy the riverside scenery before entering Phong Nha Cave by boat. Explore the permitted visitor sections and appreciate the contrast between the underground river and limestone formations.
Follow your guide and boat crew’s instructions throughout the visit.
Late afternoon — Return to Dong Hoi
After the cave visit, travel back to Dong Hoi for drop-off at the agreed hotel, railway station or airport.
Return to Dong Hoi by approximately 16:30. Drop-off is available at the agreed hotel, Dong Hoi Railway Station or Dong Hoi Airport.

The programme includes two nights at a three-star hotel in Dong Hoi.

Walking and steps

Paradise Cave and Hoanh Son Gate involve uphill walking and steps. Some outdoor surfaces can be uneven or slippery.

Please discuss any mobility limitations before booking so the team can explain suitable arrangements.

Swimming and kayaking

Tell us about your swimming ability before departure.

Water activities at Nuoc Mooc Spring depend on site rules and operating conditions. Wear the supplied life jacket as instructed and remain within the designated areas.

Respectful visits

Wear respectful clothing at General Vo Nguyen Giap’s resting place and other memorial sites.

Access to the resting place is subject to current permission and opening arrangements. The team will advise you if the visit cannot proceed.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tour include Dark Cave?

No. This programme visits Paradise Cave, Nuoc Mooc Spring and Phong Nha Cave. It does not include Dark Cave, its zipline or the mud bath.

Are both Paradise Cave and Phong Nha Cave included?

Yes. The standard Paradise Cave visit is scheduled for Day 2, and the sightseeing boat visit to Phong Nha Cave takes place on Day 3.

Is kayaking included?

Yes. Kayaking at Nuoc Mooc Spring is included in the confirmed activity package, subject to participation requirements and operating conditions.

Are dinners included?

No. The programme includes two breakfasts and three lunches. Dinners are at your own expense.

Is the hotel included in the price?

Yes. Two nights at a three-star hotel are included, based on the confirmed shared-room arrangement.

Can I request a single room?

Yes. Please request a quotation before booking. A single-room supplement applies unless otherwise confirmed.

Is the visit to General Vo Nguyen Giap’s resting place guaranteed?

No. Access depends on current permission and opening arrangements. We will advise you if the visit is unavailable.

Can you drop me off at Dong Hoi Airport or railway station?

Yes. The tour is scheduled to return to Dong Hoi at approximately 16:30 on Day 3. Please share your flight or train details before booking so we can check the connection time and arrange your drop-off.

Can I start from Phong Nha instead of Dong Hoi?

Please contact us with your accommodation details. Starting in Phong Nha would require an adjustment to the published itinerary and transfer arrangements.
